Common questions

Where does the name come from?
From the expression "common thread" — the shared idea that ties a group of words together. Each puzzle has four common threads to find.

How does the game work?
Each puzzle shows sixteen words. Four of them belong together in a hidden category — and there are four categories in all. Pick four words that share a theme, tap submit, and the group locks in. Four mistakes ends the round. If three of your four words belong together but one doesn't, the app tells you "one away" before it counts the mistake.

Can I change the content language?
Yes — in Settings → Language. English and French both ship at launch, each with its own hand-authored words and categories (no machine translation). The daily puzzle and the packs follow your choice.

I missed yesterday's daily — can I play it now?
No. Daily puzzles are tied to the calendar day in your local time zone, and there is no archive of past dailies. Practice packs let you play as much as you like at your own pace.

What do the difficulty pip and pack bar mean?
Each puzzle has an overall difficulty rating — a small filled pip on the pack list. The bar across the top of each pack shows the difficulty distribution at a glance, so you can see whether a pack ramps gently or has a few sharp spikes before you start.

How do I mute the music or sound effects?
Tap the music or sound icon in the header on the Home screen. Settings → Audio also has separate toggles plus volume sliders, and a Haptics toggle for the gentle vibrations on group-lock and one-away.

Does my progress sync between devices?
Not in v1.0. Stats and daily-puzzle progress stay on the device they were created on. iCloud sync is on the list for a future version.

I have a feature idea.
Send it via the in-app feedback form — feedback shapes what comes next.
